Men's Basketball Schedule Released
WILMORE, KY – The Asbury men’s basketball team has released their schedule for the 2010-11 season as announced by Head Coach Will Shouse on Thursday afternoon. The Eagles will play 11 home games including hosting the 15th annual Zweifel Classic.
Asbury will open their 20th year of basketball on the road against Tennessee Wesleyan on October 30th. The home opener will be against Tennessee Wesleyan on November 13th. This year’s Zweifel Classic will feature Greenville College (Ill.), Ohio Christian University, and Union College (Ky.) on December 10th and 11th, it will be held in conjunction with the women’s annual Pritchett Classic.
The Eagles will play 20 games away from the Luce Center this season including two against NCAA Division I teams and one against a Division II team. Asbury will travel to Morehead State on November 12th followed by a trip on the 18th to Kentucky Wesleyan and will cap off their NCAA games against Samford University on December 18th.
Asbury will take part in the Jamieson-Allen Tip-off Tournament hosted by Spring Arbor University (Mich.) on November 5th and 6th. They are set to play Madonna University (Mich.) and either Lourdes College or the host Cougars in the second game. The Eagles will also be part of the Wierwille Hoops Classic hosted by Berea College on December 3rd and 4th, playing Union College (Ky.) and Ohio State-Mansfield. Coach Shouse will take his team out to Redding, California for three games at the end of December as part of the Simpson University Classic.
Indiana East will head to the Luce to open up KIAC action on January 11th and the regular season will come to an end at Alice Lloyd on February 17th. This year’s KIAC tournament will be played during the week of February 21st-26th. The higher seed will host throughout the tournament.
Asbury has set aside January 22nd’s double-header against Brescia University as a reunion and celebration of its 20th year of basketball.
Last year the Eagles finished 15-17 and 6-7 in the KIAC, losing in the semi-finals of the KIAC Tournament to eventual champion Indiana Southeast.
