Eagles No Match For IUS

Wilmore, Ky. - Asbury was no match for the No. 4 ranked Indiana Southeast Grenadiers, as IUS dominated the game 101-67.  Asbury was unable to really do much of anything offensively and had trouble against Southeast's full court press.

Asbury (14-14, 6-5 KIAC) only shot 36% and was out-rebounded 64-40 as Indiana Southeast (21-3, 10-0) keeps their perfect mark against NAIA DII competition.  IUS had five players score in double figures led by Rick Bodiford's game-high 25.  Cory Britt (Cynthiana, Ky.) led the Eagles with 17 points and seven rebounds.  Phillip Morrison and Jamal Morris were also in double figures with 14 and 11.

The Eagles went into halftime down 55-29 but were able to hang with IUS for a better portion of the first half.  Both teams struggled from the start with the score tied at 10-10 with 10 minutes left in the half.  There were five lead changes and three ties up to that point.  IUS would score 45 points in the last 10 minutes of the half to take a commanding 26 point lead into the break.

Asbury will host Berea on Tuesday February 16th at 8:00 pm for Senior Day.  Asbury is currently one game behind Berea for third place in the KIAC with two games remaining.  The Eagles will close the season at Cincinnati Christian on Friday February 19th while Berea must still play IUS again.
