Asbury No Match For Georgetown

Georgetown, Ky. - Asbury was no match for Georgetown on this night as the Tigers cruised to a 120-79 victory on Wednesday night in Alumni Gymnasium.   Phillip Morrison (Louisville, Ky.) led Asbury with 26 points.

Asbury (8-4) ran into a much more athletic team in Georgetown and it showed.  The Tigers dominated the boards, clearing 28 more than the Eagles.  Georgetown had as many offensive rebounds (21) as Asbury had total rebounds.  Asbury also turned the ball over 20 times while the Tigers did only six times.

Both teams shot well from the field, Asbury hit on 47.5% of their shots and Georgetown on 56% of theirs.  The Eagles hit on nine-of -23 three-pointers while the Tigers connected on 13-of-26 treys.  Georgetown was able to take 29 more shots than Asbury.

Cory Britt (Cynthiana, Ky.) led Asbury with five assists, he also score nine points.  Justin Jones led the team with four rebounds and scored seven points. 

Eddie Gray led five Tigers in double figures with 24 points and Vic Moses had a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds.

Asbury will travel to Owensboro on Thursday for an exhibition game against Kentucky Wesleyan at 8:00 pm eastern.  The Eagles will close out 2009 down in Danville on Thursday December 17 against Centre College at 7:00 pm.
