Eagles Fall in Semis to Grenadiers

Box Score

Pippa Passes, KY---The Asbury College men would run out of magic in the semi-finals of the KIAC Tournament on Friday February 27th, falling to #1 seed Indiana Southeast 83-75.  The Eagles held a 41-38 lead at the half but a late Grenadier rally was too much to overcome.

Asbury (18-12) was led by sophomore Phillip Morrison's 18 points.  Senior Michael Spann added 14 and junior Brian Johnson added 15.  The Eagles took the lead in the first half in large part to the Grenadiers 12 turnovers, IUS would take care of the ball in the second half only turning it over twice.

IUS' James Thompkins proved to be too much for Asbury, pouring in 32 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.  The Eagles didn't have anyone to match up with his athleticism or size, 6'9.  Asbury shot the ball well from the floor, 44% for the game and hit 8-of-22 from three point range but once again struggled from the free throw line, making only 7-of-13.

Asbury will now turn their attention to the NCCAA Mid-East Region Tournament.  Further details will be provided as they become available.
