Eagles Split Zweifel
Wilmore, KY--- The Asbury College men's basketball team split a pair of games in the 13th Annual Zweifel Classic this weekend at the Luce Center. The Eagles had no problem defeating Southern State on Friday night 119-60, but ran into a tough Spring Arbor squad on Saturday and fell 92-84.
Asbury (1-1) jumped out to a big lead Friday and was able to play everyone on their roster. Overall 16 different players scored, led by Michael Spann's 21. Spann also led the team with 13 rebounds. Joining Spann in double figures were Phillip Morrison wth 16, Jordan Noble with 13, and T.J. Chinn with 11.
The Eagles struggled in the 1st half Saturday, falling behind by 19 at halftime. The Eagles were beat up inside as Rob Boss from Spring Arbor had 30 points and 17 rebounds. It was a very physical game, with 57 total fouls called, Asbury had three players foul out. The Eagles were led by Phillip Morrison who poured in 27 points, including five three-pointers. Michael Spann was the only other player in double figures with 19.
The Eagles will travel to Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday to take on Free Will Baptist at 7pm.
