Basketball Wins Two on the Road
Cincinnati, OH---The Asbury College men's basketball team continued their early season trend of scoring a lot of points, and winning this weekend at the Cincinnati Christian Classic. The Eagles defeated Kuyper College 125-91 on Friday night and Ohio University-Chillicothe 99-72 on Saturday.
Asbury (4-1) tied the school record with 125 points in the win Friday night, the Eagles also scored 125 last year against conference rival IU-East on February 1st. Asbury had seven players in double figures against Kuyper, led by sophomore Phillip Morrison's 25. Senior Michael Spann, sophomore Cory Britt, and junior Brian Johnson all had 15 points, with sophomore Keith Price chipping in 13 off the bench. Jordan Noble and T.J. Chinn added 10 points each to round out the double figure scorers.
The Eagles knocked down 12 3-pointers in the victory and shot 54% from the floor for the game. The full-court pressing defense forced the Cougars into 37 turnovers.
Saturday the Eagles had five players in double figures led again by Morrison, this time with 19 points. Johnson added 16, Noble and Price each had 14, and Chinn added 10. Asbury stormed out to 58-22 halftime lead and never looked back. The Eagles had a 54-36 rebound advantage in the game.
The Eagles won't return to action until Tuesday November 18th when they host Crown College (TN) at 6pm.
