Geneva pushes past the Eagles 87-83 in NCCAA Second Round

Oakland City, IN - Missing Brett Johnson due to injury, the Eagles got double-figure games from Derek Bland, Matt Pittman, and Michael Spann but free-throws took their toll as the Eagles committed 30 fouls, including three players fouling out in an 87-83 loss to Geneva College (Pa.).

Asbury led at the half, 43-42 but Geneva would work the ball inside, drawing fouls and earning 33 free-throw attempts, stretching the lead to 17 points in the second half before Asbury would rally. Down five with just 1:30 left in the game the Eagles had several second chances after two Dusty Riedesel free throws but couldn't convert.

The loss moves Asbury into the 7th place game with Oakland City tomorrow at 2 p.m. central, 3 p.m. eastern time. The Eagles now stand at 18-15 on the season. Asbury defeated Oakland City, 80-50 in the NCCAA Mid East Regional Final back on March 6th.
