Asbury suffers 100-72 defeat against IU-Southeast
Wilmore, KY - Opponents continue to blister the nets against Asbury with IU-Southeast adding to the list with a 55.4% display en route to a 100-72 defeat of the Eagles. The Grenadiers would race out quickly thanks to 7-of-16 shooting behind the arc, taking a 40-17 lead with 4:23 left in the first half. Asbury would only shave three points off the deficit before halftime and would only draw as close as 16 at 68-52 after four straight Michael Spann free throws.
Spann and guard Derek Bland were neutralized by the Grenadiers, holding the duo to 7-of-31 shooting from the field although Bland and Ben Spann would lead the team with 15 points. Ben Spann would also lead with nine rebounds.
The loss drops Asbury to 14-10 overall and at 2-3 in KIAC play. The team will travel to Alice Lloyd College on Tuesday, February 12th at 8:00 pm. The men will next return home for Senior Night against Berea College on the following, Tuesday, the 19th of February.
