On Tuesday, Jan. 15 the men's basketball team will return to action against Boyce College in Louisville at 7:00 p.m. The game will mark the first game within the Commonwealth for the team since December 11th, including a two-week whirlwind after the Christmas holiday that took members of the varsity team on a 13-day trip to Hawaii and the JV team to North Carolina to face the UNC JV team at the Dean Dome this past Saturday.

Documented in earlier posts, the men suffered losses on the islands, falling to Chaminade, 87-65 and to Hawaii-Hilo, 103-70. The JV team would also suffer a setback to Carolina, falling 79-61.

While sun-and-fun were surely in order for the team visiting Hawaii, the islands offered several chances to take in history, culture, and science all at the same time. From visiting the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor to taking in a luau at Kona on the Big Island of Hawai'i to the Volcanoes National Park, also on the Big Island, the team enjoyed 13-days' experience of a setting radically different from what they've usually known.

"Beyond the surf and the sand, the Hawaiian Islands offer tremendous educational value with the hikes that we took and visiting Pearl Harbor," said Asbury College head coach Jim Aller.
