Men sputter down the stretch at Berea in 89-84 loss
Berea, KY - Michael Spann's basket with 1:36 left tied the game at 82-82, but two straight turnovers by Spann and Derek Bland would prevent Asbury from getting a shot until Ben Spann's layup with :09 left in an 89-84 loss at Berea last night.
Asbury continues a trend of allowing teams to shoot well from the field, giving up 49 second-half points to the Mountaineers, who shot 48.5% (33-68) for the game. The Eagles squandered a solid night at the free throw line, going 22-of-26 (84.6%). Michael Spann led all players in scoring with 26 points and led Asbury in rebounding with eight.
The men are now 1-2 in conference play, 12-9 overall. The Eagles will take on conference newcomer, IU-East on Friday at home. The game is set for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff time and can be heard on WACW .
