Eagles drop pair of games to NCAA D-1's, Georgia Southern and Chattanooga

Georgia Southern 82, Asbury 51

Brett Johnson scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds but Asbury suffered an 82-51 defeat to NCAA Division I, Georgia Southern University. GSU used a 25-4 run in the first half to build a 48-25 halftime margin and would not look back.

Chattanooga 89, Asbury 63

Another first half run doomed Asbury, this time a 15-2 margin that put Chattanooga up 28-11 and sent them on to the 89-63 win. Three Eagles scored in double figures again led by Brett Johnson with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Michael Spann added 12 points and Matt Pittman scored 11.

The pair of losses drop Asbury to 9-5 on the season as they head out to the islands of Hawaii for two exhibition games against Chaminade on Dec. 31st and Hawaii-Hilo on January 5th. The Chaminade game will begin at 1:30 p.m. Hawaiian Standard Time, which is five hours behind the Eastern time zone. Asbury's game with Hawaii-Hilo is set for 7:15 Hawaiian, 12:15 a.m. on January 6th in the Eastern time zone.
