The Eagles would earn their first win of the season with a hard-fought 86-78 win over Montreat (N.C.) in the second game of the Cecil Zweifel Classic. Michael Spann would lead Asbury with 18 points and 9 rebounds as the Eagles hung on for the win despite not making a three-point attempt for the second game in the row. The Eagles largest lead came at 57-34 early in the second half. Free throws down the stretch would seal the win as Asbury would convert 22 of their 31 attempts, including a perfect 15-of-15 from Brett Johnson and Michael Spann. The Eagles ended their three-point field goal drought early in the second half on a made attempt by freshman Jonathan Edwards, however 4-of-19 shooting from behind the arc for the game sealed their second loss of the season. Michael Spann again led the team with 21 points, including 7-of-7 from the free throw line. Spann now stands at 21-of-21 from the charity stripe on the season. Brett Johnson recorded his first double-double of the year with 18 points and 11 rebounds but fouled out and earned a subsequent technical for the rare 6th foul of the game.

The Eagles will next take the court on Friday, November 9th at 7:00 p.m. as they take on UVA-Wise.
