Men's Basketball completes comeback against UVA Wise, 87-85
Brett Johnson's block with :02.9 left seals 87-85 win for Eagles, highlighted by a perfect performance from sophomore Derek Craft. Craft was thrust into the starting lineup after Michael Spann was held out of the game due to illness. The sophomore shot 5-of-5 from three point land, 6-of-6 overall from the field, and 3-of-3 from the line to complete a 20-point night. He was bested by Johnson's 26 points and team-high 9 rebounds.
Asbury found themselves down early, 33-19, but made an 18-2 run over the last seven minutes of the half to take a 37-35 lead into halftime. The Eagles would push out to their largest lead at 77-65 before relying on Johnson's heroics to save the day against a UVA Wise press that had whittled the lead.
The men will have a week off before heading to Berea for the first game of the Berea Classic against Milligan (Tenn.) on Friday, November 16th. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. The men will then turn around and face Montreat (N.C.) in a rematch on Saturday, November 17th. The tip is set for 1:00 p.m.
