Men humbled in loss to Spalding

Asbury had their chance to clinch the first-ever KIAC title in school history, but it was not to be as Spalding held the Eagles to 34.7% (17-49) shooting from the field, including 2-of-16 from behind the arc. By contrast, Spalding shot 54.5% (30-55) from the floor. Brett Johnson, Brandon Fentress, and Michael Spann all led the Eagles in scoring with 10 points each. The loss drops Asbury to 20-8 overall, 6-2 in conference.

The Eagles no longer have control of their own destiny regarding the KIAC title. This Saturday, Spalding hosts Alice Lloyd, a Spalding loss coupled with an Asbury win at Berea would give the Eagles the conference title. Any other result gives Spalding the championship. Asbury can do no worse than a second-place finish, regardless of their outcome at Berea. The Eagles tip-off against the Mountaineers in Berea at 7:00 p.m.
