Baseball Drops Opener on Road 3-0
BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Despite outhitting their hosts 5-3 in the game the Eagles couldn't find the scoring combination as they return home as losers of their opener, 3-0, at the hands of the Union (Ky.) Bulldogs.
Zach Settle got the starting nod on the mound, but a shaky start with four walked batters brought teammate Joey Johnson in for relief. Johnson was tagged with the loss after pitching 0.2 innings and giving up two of the three Bulldog runs in the third inning.
From there the Eagles and Bulldogs (3-3) found little offense as they would combine for just eight hits in the game.
Landon Skaggs had two hits in four plate appearances for the Eagles. Andrew Moran, Dallas Murphy, and Andrew Harris collected the other three Eagles' knocks, all singles.
The Eagles' next scheduled game is this Friday with a two day swing at Montreat College (N.C.) for three contests. Follow AsburyEagles.com for updates and possible live stats coverage.
