Silvanik, 5 Players "Get in the Game" in Harlan, Ky.
Harlan, KY - Five current Asbury University baseball players--Joey Johnson, Connor Byrne, Chad Warner, Taylor Valentine and Kyle Mefford-- and Head Coach Bob Silvanik served alongside nearly 20 other college players and coaches Saturday for a "Get In The Game" baseball clinic at Harlan County High School in Eastern Kentucky. The Eagles teamed up with sponsors SCORE International and Meridzo Ministries as a way to reach out to young kids in Appalachia through the gospel of Jesus Christ, using baseball as the platform.
"It was a day to bask in God's glory in the mountains of Kentucky as we shared the love of Christ with some very special kids," said Coach Silvanik.
Asbury's baseball team has had a long-standing relationship with SCORE International, bringing the gospel message to baseball players in the U.S. and in the Dominican Republic. Next month, Coach Silvanik and 2 more Asbury players will be in the D.R. as part of a U.S. college team to play against Domincan teams and participate in mission work.
