Baseball Season Ends in New Albany
NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Asbury’s baseball season came to a close on Friday evening, losing 12-1 to Brescia in the KIAC Tournament. The Eagles finish 20-37, their fourth 20-win season in five years under Bob Silvanik and only the sixth in the program’s 28-year history.
The Eagles had a few chances early to touch up Brescia starter Cody Morris but left the bases loaded in both the first and fourth innings. AU scored first with a run in the first after a wild pitch with the bases loaded. The Eagles loaded the bases again but were unable to convert. Asbury left eight on base.
Brescia (22-33) took the lead with two in the second but things got out of hand in the middle innings. The Bearcats added four in the fourth and three in the fifth, only one of which was an earned run. Brescia scored seven unearned runs overall as the defense made three errors.
Seniors Brandon Smith and Casey Messner each had two hits in their final game in an Asbury uniform. Freshman Landon Skaggs also had two hits in the game.
