Olszowy Named KIAC Player of the Year

Danny OlszowyKINGSPORT, Tenn. – Asbury senior Danny Olszowy was named KIAC Player of the Year, highlighting the conference baseball awards for the Eagles.  Olszowy is the first Eagle to take home the award since the program was brought back before the 2008 season.

Olszowy batted .391 on the season and a conference best .456 in KIAC games.  The leftfielder led the conference overall in slugging (.632) and tied for the lead in triples (4).  Olszowy led the team with 52 hits, 15 doubles, 30 RBI, and a .484 OBP.  He also hit three home runs and scored 23 runs.

Transfer-senior Tyler Wooden joined Olszowy on the All-KIAC 1st Team after batting .325 with 49 hits, six doubles, two home runs and 28 RBI.  The catcher joined the Eagles after spending two years at Bryan College in Tennessee.

Asbury had five players on the All-KIAC 2nd Team; Casey Messner (OF), Matt Cox (OF), Tyler Weaver (Utlility), Isaiah Bell (P) and Micah Pace (P).  Three Eagles also took home Gold Glove Awards, Brad Williams (P), Tyler Weaver (2B) and Josh Cummins (SS).
