KIAC Releases Baseball Touranment Bracket

BEREA, Ky. – The 2012 KIAC baseball tournament schedule and seeds was released on Monday by league officials.  Asbury finished 9-7 in conference play and is the #3 seed and will play #2 seed Brescia in the five team tournament to be played in Kingsport, Tenn. starting on Wednesday.

Brescia and Indiana Southeast finished tied atop the league standings, both holding 11-5 marks but IUS takes the top seed based on the second tiebreaker.  The two teams split four games against each other but IUS also split with Asbury while Brescia lost three of four.

Asbury took three of four from the Bearcats just over a week ago in Wilmore and also won a meeting at Alice Lloyd to take four-of-five overall.  The round robin played at ALC was not counted towards conference record since it could not be completed.

The tournament gets started on Wednesday evening as #4 seed Alice Lloyd takes on #5 seed Berea at 6 p.m.  The winner advances to play IUS on Thursday.  Asbury and Brescia hit the field on Thursday at 11 a.m.

Indiana Southeast has already secured one of the two bids from the KIAC into the Unaffiliated grouping tournament in Kinston, N.C. next weekend.  The KIAC Tournament winner will also get a bid to the Unaffiliated tournament unless IUS wins the tournament, then it would be given to the tournament runner-up.
