Eagles Shutout at Whitaker Bank Park

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Asbury met Georgetown College for the sixth time this year on the diamond, but this time at Whitaker Bank Park, home of the Lexington Legends.  The Tigers came away with the sixth win in the series this year 15-0.

Georgetown (29-7) scored in six innings putting up a single run in the first three before busting the game open with four in the fifth and five in the sixth.  Asbury eight pitchers in the game, no one worked two innings.  The team walked 13 batters in the game.  Brad Williams (1-6) started and pitched only the first inning allowing a hit, a run and walking two and took the loss.  The Eagles (7-29) walked 11 in the game.

Asbury could muster only two hits in the game, a bloop single behind first base off the bat of Matt Cox in the third and Jordan Cox’s single to right in the seventh.  Georgetown’s Matt Smith (4-1) picked up the win after striking out six in five innings.  He also walked two.

Asbury is set to host Cumberlands (Ky.) on Tuesday in a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
