Eagles Drop Two in Tennessee
DAYTON, Tenn. – Asbury baseball dropped a pair of games at the Tennessee Valley Invitational hosted by Bryan College on Friday night. The Eagles fell to #23 Madonna University 8-1 before losing to the hosts 9-3 in the nightcap. Asbury will play two more games on Saturday.
Asbury (0-6) allowed four runs in the first inning to Madonna as the Crusaders tallied all eight in the first three frames. The Eagles scored their lone run in the fourth as Chad Warner knocked home Danny Olszowy with a single. Warner finished the game with two hits. Casey Messner also had two hits as the Eagles tallied only five. Madonna collected 10 hits.
In the second game Asbury took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning as Isaiah Bell scored Olszowy with a sac fly and Warner doubled home Tyler Wooden. Wooden doubled earlier in the inning. Warner again finished with two of the team’s five hits. He now leads the team with a .353 average on the season.
The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday as they play Indiana Wesleyan at 10 a.m. before finishing out their stay in Tennessee against St. Xavier (Ill.) at 1 p.m.
