Ciolek, Adams Earn KIAC Weekly Honors
Asbury University senior pitcher Gardner Adams was named the KIAC baseball pitcher of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, March 28th. In four innings of work against Cincinnati Christian University, Adams only allowed a single hit while striking out nine CCU batters. He also picked up the win as Asbury won 11-1. On the season, Adams is 5-1 with an earned run average of 2.70 in 23.1 innings of work.
Adams continues to move up the Eagles all-time statistics leaderboard with 148 career stirkeouts, sitting just 44 behind John Slone's mark of 192. Adams would be ranked 3rd in the KIAC in ERA if he had enough innings to qualify. Pitchers must pitch one inning per team game to qualify for conference and national listings.
Asbury University senior firstbaseman Matt Ciolek was named the KIAC baseball player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, March 28th. This is Ciolek’s second player of the week award on the season. He had at least one hit in all five games last week and concluded the week with a batting average of .375 (6-for-16) and a slugging percentage of .750. He had three doubles, one homerun, six runs batted in, and scored four runs.
On the season, Ciolek is batting .370 (30-for-81) and leads Asbury with 7 homeruns and 29 runs batted in. Asbury will return to action on March 29th when they travel to the University of the Cumberlands for a doubleheader.
