Thigpen, Adams Masterful in Sweep
Pippa Passes, Ky. – Josh Thigpen and Gardner Adams only gave up one hit a piece in a two game sweep of Alice Lloyd on Friday afternoon, 8-2 and 2-0. The Eagles pick up only their second and third wins in road games this season.
Asbury (14-19, 6-4 KIAC) collected 12 hits in game one and eight in game two. Greg Bowling hit a home run in game one, his second of the season but the story was the pitching. Thigpen improves to 3-3 on the season and struck out nine in his second complete game of the season. Adams was even better in game two as he shut out Alice Lloyd (11-10, 5-5 KIAC) and improves to 3-1 on the season. Adams has both of the team’s shutouts on the season in his second complete game. Adams struck out seven in his outing.
These two teams play again on Saturday in Pippa Passes at 12:00 pm. Asbury leap frogs Alice Lloyd in the KIAC standings after getting swept last weekend at IUS.
