Lambuth Takes Two from Eagles
Jackson, Tenn. – Asbury couldn’t continue the momentum from Friday’s win and were swept in a double-header at Lambuth University on Saturday afternoon 10-0 (5) and 3-2. The Eagles gave up a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh in game two to drop the rubber match in the weekend series.
Asbury (7-9) held a brief lead in the second game as they scored two in the second but Lambuth would answer in the bottom of the third with two of their own. Gardner Adams started on the mound but was pulled after three innings of work of three hits and two run baseball. Isaiah Bell (0-2) came in and allowed four hits in three and two thirds innings of work but allowed the walk off win to Lambuth.
Cody Christopher and Mark Deetsch each drove in a run for Asbury as the offense could only muster six hits in the game. Josh Thigpen had two hits in three at-bats including a double, Deetsch also had a double.
Asbury only had two hits in the first game as Lambuth jumped on the Eagles early with five runs in the first inning. Christopher started on the mound and would be pulled before making it through the inning.
The Eagles will travel to Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday March 18th before returning home Friday and Saturday March 19th and 20th to open KIAC action against Cincinnati Christian.
