Eagles Swept by Grenadiers
New Albany, Ind. – Asbury couldn’t find a way to break through in four games against Indiana Southeast over the weekend as they were swept by the Grenadiers 9-8, 6-0, 6-5, and 11-3.
The road woes continue for Asbury as they drop to 1-14 in true road games and 3-17 in all games away from Wilmore. The Eagles had a team ERA of 10.50 in the four games and allowed IUS to hit .407 against them while only hitting .286 as a team. IUS scored early and often, scoring 22 of their 36 runs in the first three innings while Asbury only scored five in the same time frame. Seven team errors added to the woes for the team as a whole.
Asbury (12-18, 4-4 KIAC) continued to get production from the top of their order as Danny Olszowy, Drew Freeman, Matt Ciolek, and Blake Englehardt combined for 21 of the team’s 31 hits on the weekend. They also drove in 13 of the team’s 16 RBIs and scored nine of their 16 runs. Casey Messner added to the production with three hits, four runs scored, and five walks.
Asbury will host St. Catharine on Monday at 3:00 pm for one game before heading back on the road to Campbellsville University on Tuesday and Alice Lloyd on Friday and Saturday.
