Eagles Blanked by Campbellsville
Campbellsville, Ky. – The offense couldn’t get going again on Tuesday as Asbury was shut-out against Campbellsville 6-0. This is the sixth straight loss for the baseball team, and eight of their last nine overall.
The Eagles managed eight hits over nine innings but three double plays negated any opportunities Asbury had to score. Asbury also left eight men on base. Casey Messner continued his hot hitting, picking up a pair of hits on the afternoon. Jordan Barker and Brandon Smith each picked up a double in the game.
Isaiah Bell made his first start of the season and went three innings allowing only two hits and a walk while striking out one. Will Blackburn picked up his first loss of the season as he gave up four runs over three innings. The Tigers scored once in the third, three in the sixth, and finally hit a two-run homer in the seventh.
Asbury will head to Pippa Passes to take on Alice Lloyd College in a pair of double-headers this weekend in an important series in KIAC action.
