Bowling Pitches Eagles Past Lambuth
Jackson, Tenn. – Greg Bowling threw a complete nine-inning game as Asbury won for the first time in a true road game. Asbury defeated Lambuth University 3-2 in the first game of a three-game weekend series.
Asbury (7-7) scored first in the top of the second inning before Lambuth quickly answered in the bottom of the inning. The Eagles came right back in the top of the third to take the lead for good, they would add an insurance run in the fifth before Lambuth added their final run in the bottom of the seventh.
Bowling (2-1) picked up his second win of the season in his second complete game of the season, the first in a nine-inning game. Bowling scattered 11 hits in the game but walked only one and struck out three.
The Eagles picked up seven hits in the game as Danny Olsozowy was the only Asbury hitter to collect multiple hits. Matt Ciolek hit his second homer of the game and continues his hot streak. Casey Messner and Mark Deetsch also picked up RBIs in the contest.
Asbury will play Lambuth in a double-header on Saturday starting at 12:00 pm. Asbury returns home next weekend to open KIAC action against Cincinnati Christian on Friday March 19th.
