Asbury Snaps Slide with Sweep
Wilmore, Ky. – Asbury bounced back after a four game slide with a double-header sweep of Cincinnati Christian 8-1, 4-1 in the KIAC openers for both teams. Greg Bowling, the reigning KIAC Pitcher of the Week, threw a complete game in game one.
Bowling improved his record to 3-0 with a 10 strikeout performance in the opener. He allowed only three hits and one run while walking only one. The junior from Ashland gave up two hits and the only run in the first inning before settling in.
The Eagles would take the lead in the bottom of the second with two runs before adding two more in the second. Danny Olszowy tripled in a run in the first and Matt Ciolek hit a sacrifice fly. Ciolek would add two hits and one more RBI in the game. Jon Wes Adams would also add RBIs and was 1-1 with two walks.
Jon Wes would get the start on the mound in game two, going four innings to improve to 2-0 on the season. Adams gave up only four hits and one run while striking out two. Isaiah Bell pitched the last three innings to earn his first save. He allowed only one hit and struck out three.
Danny Olszowy had two hits and scored twice in the second game and Drew Freeman had two RBIs. The Eagles took the early lead with one run in the first and would add a single run in the third, fourth and fifth innings.
Asbury and Cincinnati Christian will meet again for a double-header on Saturday at 10:00 am.
