Baseball Mid-East Region Tournament Announced

The Asbury College baseball team will begin their journey to the NCCAA National Tournament with Mid-East Regional action in Bluefield, Virginia Wednesday May 13th.  The Eagles will take on Mid-Continent University (Mayfield, Ky.) at 3pm at Bowen Field in Bluefield. 

There are only three teams that will participate in Mid-East Regional action which makes for an unorthodox tournament.  The loser of the Asbury-Mid-Continent game will play Bluefield College Wednesday at 6pm with the winner waiting to play Bluefield Thursday at 3pm.  If the loser of game one also loses game two then they are eliminated and the remaining two teams will play a best of three series Thursday at 3pm, 6pm and Friday at 1pm if necessary.  If a team is not eliminated then a draw will be held to determine which team that will receive a "bye" into the championship Friday at 1pm with the other two teams playing Thursday at 6pm. 

The format may seem confusing but check back for updates each day along with box scores and more tournament information.  The tournament will be held at Bowen Field in Bluefield.  Bowen Field was built in 1939 and is home to the Bluefield Orioles a Rookie League affiliate to the Baltimore Orioles.
