Eagles Thump Goshen

Wilmore, KY---The Asbury College baseball team got the week off this week and responded with a double-header sweep of Goshen College (IN) on Saturday afternoon, 8-3 and 8-1.  The Eagles used one big inning in both games to open up a lead, scoring six runs in the 4th of game one and run in the 5th of game two.

Blake Englehardt led the way for Asbury (8-7) going 5-for7 with one double and 5 RBI's in the two games.  Blake is now hitting .459 on the season with a team-high 14 RBI.  Gardner Adams also had a big day at the plate, going 2-for-5 with a double and 3 RBI's and scoring four times.  Luke Temple hit his second home run of the season in the 6-run 4th of game one.

Josh Thigpen (3-1) started game one and pitched well enough to pick up the win lasting 4 1/3 innings.  Thigpen struggled to locate his pitches in walking five.  He also gave up three hits and three earned runs.  Jon Wes Adams pitched 2 2/3 innings of one hit ball to close out game one.  Greg Bowling (1-0) earned his first decision of the season in game two allowing only five hits and one run in the complete game victory.  Bowling also struck out five and walked only one. 

Asbury will return to action on Tuesday at Cincinnati Christian before hosting #5 Union (KY) in a double-header Wednesday at 1pm.
