#7 Bulldogs Topple Eagles in Season Opener

Barbourville, KY---The Asbury College baseball team dropped their first two games of the season to the #7 team in the country, Union College (KY) 14-3 and 9-4 on Saturday afternoon.

Asbury (0-2) fell behind early giving up 12 runs in the first two innings of game one and couldn't recover.  Five errors by the Eagles didn't help out starter Gardner Adams who gave up eight hits and nine runs in 1 1/3 innings pitched.  Sophomore catcher Jon Wes Adams collected a hit in one at-bat and knocked in two for Asbury in game one.

Game two was different but at the same time very similar to the first.  Union scored three runs in the first two innings to take an early lead but this time the Eagles would battle back.  Asbury would score in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings including back-to-back homers by Zach Monroe and Luke Temple that would tie the game at 4-4.  In the 6th it would all come crashing down.  The Bulldogs would score five times in the 6th as the Eagles would fall behind for good.

Asbury will open up their home schedule on Friday February 13th as they host Siena Heights at 12pm for doubleheader action.  Both teams will square off again on Saturday for another twinbill.
