Strong offense and solid pitching give Asbury a 9-6 upset at Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Ky. - Home runs by Zach Monroe and Matt Ciolek helped post Asbury to an early lead as Jon Wes Adams earned his second win in as many starts in a 9-6 win over Georgetown on Thursday night.
Adams pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up just three earned runs on four hits while striking out five and only giving up two walks. Monroe cranked his second homerun of the season with Ciolek belting his first as the Eagles twice held six-run leads at 6-0 and 9-3 before McKenzie Carter would come in Asbury to earn his first save of the season.
All told the Eagles would pound out 14 hits, including all but one of the game's extra base hits. Cody Christopher belted two doubles and a triple with Luke Temple adding his third double of the season totaling the Eagles seven extra-base hits.
The Eagles improve to 2-5 on the season as they are supposed to travel to Campbellsville on Saturday for a noon time game, weather permitting. The team will rematch at Georgetown on Tuesday, March 12th. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. The team will next play at home against Oakland City (Ind.) University on Friday, March 14th.
