Asbury loses rubber match with Georgetown, 5-4
Wilmore, KY - Asbury rallied from 5-1 down to a one-run deficit at 5-4 after a Zach Monroe homerun in the 7th inning but Georgetown reliever Pete Thackston would get Greg Bowling to look at the third strike in the ninth to close out the win for the Tigers.
The loss is the second one-run loss to Georgetown this year for the Eagles who dropped a 6-5 decision in 10 innings back on March 12th.
Nine walks given up by five Eagle pitchers proved too costly as the free passes kept innings alive for Georgetown that resulted in the first three Tiger runs for an early 3-1 lead. Georgetown added two more runs in the 7th inning, setting up Zach Monroe's heroics to bring Asbury close but not close enough.
The loss drops Asbury to 5-9 on the season. The team will host Ohio Christian on Saturday in a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
