Baseball gives up early lead in 6-4 loss to Centre
Danville, KY - Asbury jumped out to a 4-0 lead thanks in part to a two-run double by Greg Bowling after the Eagles put their first five hitters on base, however the Eagles would register only three more hits all game, falling 6-4.
The early Eagle lead would stand up through two threats in the second and third innings before Centre would get on the board in the fourth and fifth, bringing the host Colonels to 4-3, jump starting their offense while Centre's pitcher, John Herbert would settle down, striking out a career-high 13 in the win. The Colonels would eventually take a 5-4 lead in the eighth inning when pinch-hitter Steven Proctor would get his first career hit, bringing in a runner from third.
The loss moves Asbury to 1-3 on the season. The Eagles will travel to face the University of the Cumberlands in a Saturday doubleheader in Williamsburg, Ky. First pitch of the opening game is set for 1:00 p.m.
