Baseball earns first win

Wilmore, KY - After three games and some delays due to the weather, the Asbury Eagles post their first win.
Unlike the previous weekend's games against Taylor, it would be the Eagles that would jump out to an early lead thanks to good hitting and costly errors by their opponent. Slade Halvaksz would get Asbury started with a two-run double in the second inning while Zach Monroe's three-run homerun in the fourth inning propelled the Eagles to an 8-0 lead heading into the top of the 5th inning that they would not relinquish in the 9-5 win. Pitcher Jon Wes Adams earned his first win of the season, thanks to six innings of control, striking out eight batters with just one walk. Adams had a shutout until the 6th when he was touched up for two runs before handing the ball over to reliever Greg Bowling.
The win puts Asbury at 1-2 on the season heading into a Thursday game at Centre College in Danville. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. The Eagles will next be in action at home for a Friday/Saturday series against Oakland City (Ind.) University.
