Cheerleading

Cheerleading at Asbury College is a co-ed varsity sport requiring the same athleticism and dedication as other varsity sports at Asbury. The team first appeared on the Asbury sidelines in the spring semester of 2003 to a huge audience at Asbury's first home basketball game of the semester.

The squad's main goal is to represent Christ on and off the court and to raise the level of enthusiasm, spirit, and pride for all men's and women's basketball games. One of the many benefits of being a member of the Asbury College Cheerleading squad is the opportunity to receive academic credit for participating on the squad.

Several choreographed dance routines are perfected during the school year and performed during half-times at home games. Cheerleaders are expected to cheer at all home men's and women's basketball games and travel to games at nearby colleges. Once the squad is chosen, required evening practices are usually held three times per week during the basketball season. Dedication to the squad and support for all teams and the college is expected of each participant.

Tryouts are held at the beginning of the fall semester to prepare for the upcoming basketball season. The Asbury College cheerleading squad welcomes all interested student athletes to participate in tryouts.
