Class Traditions
Classes at Asbury College have unique traditions. These traditions create a strong identification among Asbury's students during their time on campus as well as after graduation. Each incoming class is assigned a faculty or staff advisor and two senior students (male and female) as class sponsors. The class sponsors choose a class name, colors, and verse, which will be that class' identity for their four years at Asbury. During the class' first semester, they choose a class hymn. It is tradition that when a class' hymn is sung in chapel, that class stands and sings the first verse alone, then the rest of the student body joins them for the rest of the hymn. These traditions carry over to class reunions, which are held at five-year intervals.

CLASS TRADITION TRIVIA:
According to our records, there are three class hymns that have been selected most, each used five times through Asbury's history: Lead On, O King Eternal (1944, 1948, 1953, 1961, 1966); A Mighty Fortress Is Our God (1950, 1960, 1967, 1975, 1995); and Soldiers of Christ, Arise (1951, 1955, 1959, 1971, 1978).
The most-selected class verse through the years has been Ephesians 6:13, selected four times: "Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand" (KJV) - Classes of 1951, 1955, 1969, and 1974.
