Author Jill Briscoe Speaks at Asbury
WILMORE, Ky. — “Do it young, do it old, do it poor, do it rich, do it when you’re frightened out of your mind — because that’s courage, doing the right thing when you’re frightened out of your mind.”
In the no-nonsense manner that has been winning followers of Jesus for more than 50 years, author and speaker Jill Briscoe spoke at Asbury University’s Chapel on Monday to share her story and encourage students to view each person in their life as part of their mission field. From her first encounter with the Holy Spirit as a child in an air-raid shelter in WWII-era England to the decades of fruitful ministry with her husband, Stuart, at Elmbrook Church in Milwaukee, Briscoe has traveled a path of growing faith and adventure. She has authored more than 40 books and served on the boards of World Relief and Christianity Today, Inc., as well as working as executive editor of “Just Between Us,” a magazine of encouragement for ministry wives and women in leadership.
In addition to Monday’s Chapel service, Briscoe spoke to students over lunch on “Dealing with Difficult People” and again in Hughes on Monday evening on “Living Single in a Double World.”
