Paths We've Taken: Reunion 2013

Online registration has now opened for Asbury University’s Reunion 2013: Path’s We’ve Taken — and in addition to the fellowship Asburians have come to expect from Reunion, the weekend will feature a performance from a young man whose own path has taken him in unexpected directions.

On Friday, June 21, Christian illusionist Harris III will present a program that reveals the truth about deception through artistic and dramatic use of illusion, sleight of hand and the mind’s willingness to believe the senses. Harris was introduced to the power of illusion as a child and began performing for audiences soon after. Since then, he has been featured on stages in 15 countries around the world.

Chapel and shared meals are two of the highlights of each summer's Reunion.

In addition to Friday evening’s program, Reunion 2013 includes opportunities for alumni of all classes to reconnect with classmates and friends, interact with current and retired faculty, and worship together in Hughes Auditorium. Banner-year classes ending in “3” and “8” will enjoy a special dessert gathering after the performance on Friday as well as Saturday’s class luncheons.

On Saturday evening, a program of music, testimonies, presentations of alumni awards and remarks by President Sandra C. Gray will celebrate the Lord’s faithfulness to lead His people on their unique journeys. Also featured this year is the SATB Choral Reunion, which is open to all alumni who participated in any choral ensemble while a student at Asbury. The group will sing on Sunday morning under the direction of Dr. Don Donaldson, Dr. Craig Hodges and Dr. Vicki Bell.

Throughout the weekend, youth will enjoy a full schedule of age-appropriate activities.

“The theme of ‘Paths We’ve Taken’ is a reflection of the many different ways in which Asbury alumni have experienced God’s faithfulness and impacted the world through their careers, ministries, families and service,” said Carolyn Ridley ’81, director of Alumni Relations and Parent Program. “Our alumni have incredible stories of God’s work in their lives, and I’m excited to hear them.”
