WILMORE, Ky. — Asbury University will honor Dr. Phyllis Davidson ’46 Corbitt for her service to the University and the community with a retirement reception from 4-5:30 p.m. on March 5. The reception will take place in the Student Center; a brief program will begin at 5 p.m.

Corbitt, a chemistry major, and her husband, Duvon Corbitt, Jr. ’48, were the first married couple accepted to Vanderbilt Medical School (Phyllis was the only woman admitted that year). After residency, they received training in tropical medicine and moved to the Belgian Congo, where they led a 200-bed hospital in Kapanga. In 1970, Phyllis established a private practice in Wilmore, where she also served as the campus physician from 1974-98.

Corbitt has treated multiple generations of families in her 42-plus years of practice on Main Street in Wilmore and has impacted Asburians around the world through her work in the campus clinic. The public is welcome to attend the reception.
