Adventure Training and Resources

  • Adventure Leadership, REC 362 : A 3-credit Recreation course covering Challenge Course facilitation, combined with team leadership principles.
  • Lead-On workshops : Seminars, open to anyone, that teach climbing skills, team initiatives or ropes course elements for an experiential understanding of leadership concepts.
  • Challenge Course Training: In addition to occasional training days through the Lead-On workshops, there is a week-long training on the ropes course every May. For those interested in learning during other times of the year, contact us for a chance to shadow experienced facilitators.
  • Resources: If you are leading group games or preparing for an outdoor expedition, Adventure Programs personnel may be able to help with books, websites, maps, gear rental, and consultation.
  • Kentucky Ropes Course Network: The Asbury College Challenge Course is a core member of this state association which includes directors from over 30 ropes courses who meet yearly for a teambuilding forum. We also have connections with numerous other adventure associations which assist with raising industry standards and career searches.
