Asbury College announces no tuition increase for 2009-10
WILMORE, KY—Following a careful and prayerful evaluation of the current financial climate, the Board of Trustees at Asbury College has approved the administration's recommendation to hold tuition, room and board charges constant for the next academic year.
Access and affordability are key concerns in these days of economic uncertainty, and we, at Asbury College, believe this action will assist both current and prospective students to have the Asbury College experience of Academic Excellence and Spiritual Vitality.
Implementing no increase in tuition, room and board will require that all discretionary expenses be held constant for next academic year, pending a more favorable financial climate.
“For the past several months, I, along with the President’s Cabinet, have been carefully monitoring the volatility of the U.S. and global economies and evaluating the impact upon our budget for this year and next,” President Sandra Gray said. “Asbury College is not alone in this situation. Both public and private institutions throughout the country are implementing extraordinary measures to respond to these difficult financial realities.”
Faculty, staff and students have been encouraged to find creative and innovative ways to conserve valued resources. As Asbury College continues to develop both short and longer term solutions, the administration will work closely with students and their families when they encounter a significant change in their financial circumstances.
The Asbury College community is responding to these issues with great sensitivity, commitment and faith. “Faith, after all, is trusting God to do for us what we cannot do for ourselves,” Gray said. “It will require our working together, being a community of believers God intends us to be, and prayerfully seeking the Lord’s will in every detail of our lives.”
