Scholarships and Grants
John Wesley Hughes Scholarships
Two full-tuition scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis to new students (one male and one female) who qualify as Level III President’s Scholars, National Merit/Francis Asbury Scholars or Level IV Kentucky Governor’s Scholars. Competition is by invitation only and occurs on campus in early spring prior to intended enrollment. This award is renewed for up to four years or eight semesters provided the recipient maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.60 at Asbury College.
Henry Clay Morrison Scholarships
Sixteen half-tuition scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis to new students who qualify as Level III President’s Scholars or Level IV Kentucky Governor’s Scholars. Competition is by invitation only and occurs on campus in early spring prior to intended enrollment. This award is renewed for up to four years or eight semesters provided the recipient maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.50 at Asbury College.
National Merit/Francis Asbury Scholarships
Scholarships equal to 70% of tuition will be awarded to National Merit finalists entering their freshman year during the fall semester, who graduated from high school the previous spring. This award is renewed for up to four years or eight semesters provided the recipient maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.50 at Asbury College.
*Recipients of National Merit/Francis Asbury scholarships will be invited to campus in early spring to compete for the Hughes scholarship. Contact your admissions counselor for more detailed information.
Harry Hosier Scholarships (African-American students) and Jose Velazquez Scholarships (American-Hispanic students)
The purpose of these scholarships is to provide and maintain an awareness of the value the College places on ethnic diversity and its attention to multicultural concerns on campus.
Two Hosier and two Velazquez scholarships (each 70% of tuition) are awarded to new students. The requirements for consideration are U.S. citizenship and a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Evaluation will also include academic records, test scores, rank in class, extracurricular activities (particularly as they relate to American ethnic minority concerns), leadership ability, quality of program, letters of recommendation, an essay, and an interview.
This award is renewed for up to four years or eight semesters provided the recipient maintains a cumulative GPA of 2.50 at the end of the first year, 2.75 at the end of the second year and 3.00 at the end of the third year, and continues to demonstrate the outstanding qualities that led to his/her selection.

Kentucky Governor's Scholarships
Graduates of Kentucky high schools who attended either the Governor's Scholars program or the Governor's School for the Arts program will be eligible for scholarships of at least 15% of tuition. Students meeting additional criteria may receive larger scholarships. Students must meet two of three criteria in each level of award.

This scholarship will not, however, affect additional need-based Asbury aid or aid received from the Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES) program or other external sources.
*Recipients of Governor's Level IV scholarships will be invited to campus in early spring to compete for the Hughes and Morrison scholarships.
Presidential Scholarships
Students who demonstrate high academic achievement in high school and who meet the minimum standard for admission in all categories may qualify for this scholarship. This scholarship is renewed for up to four years or eight semesters. To be eligible, a student must meet two of three criteria.

Class rank and high school GPA are not considered.
*Recipients of the Level III Presidential Scholarship will be invited to campus in early spring to compete for the Hughes and Morrison scholarships.
Music Performance Scholarships
This scholarship will be awarded by the Music Department to students who exhibit outstanding musical performance ability. Students must meet Asbury College admission requirements to be considered. The Music Department makes the final selections based on auditions. To maintain this scholarship, students must meet the minimum cumulative GPA required for graduation.

Athletic Scholarships
The Athletic Department awards scholarships in varying amounts to outstanding athletes who demonstrate a potential to significantly contribute to the athletic program of the College. To qualify, students must meet regular admission standards and NAIA requirements. Athletic scholarships are recommended by the coaches and the Athletic Director of Asbury College. To maintain this scholarship, a student must meet the minimum cumulative GPA required for graduation, pass a minimum of 24 credits per year and continue to have the recommendations of a coach and the Athletic Director.

International Student Scholarship
Each year the Scholarship Committee will select new international applicants to receive partial scholarships/loans. Selection is based on academic standing, an essay written by the student and other information available to the committee. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide qualified international students the opportunity of an education at Asbury College and to maintain awareness of international concerns through the presence of students from other countries on campus.
The deadline for application submission is January 1 of the year in which the student intends to enroll. This scholarship/loan may be renewed for up to four years or eight semesters (excluding summer) provided the student maintains satisfactory academic progress defined as a 2.5 GPA during each freshman semester and 3.0 GPA during each subsequent semester. This scholarship is available only to persons who are not citizens of the USA or Canada. Please contact the Admissions Office for more detailed information.
Asbury College Alumni Honors Award
Two awards consisting of 5% of tuition will be given annually to entering freshmen who are direct descendants of Asbury College alumni and who have outstanding high school records. This is a one-time award and is, therefore, not renewable. A letter of application must be submitted to the Asbury College Alumni Relations Office no later than April 15.
