Orchestra String Clinic Accepting Applications

The Asbury University Music Department is accepting applications for the inaugural String Fellowship Honors Clinic, a two-day clinic for high school junior and senior orchestral string players and pianists. The clinic will take place Oct. 18-19, 2011.

The event begins Tuesday afternoon and concludes Wednesday evening with a 6:30 p.m. Demonstration Recital by the Fellowship string orchestra, chamber groups and the Asbury University Faculty String Trio. In addition to their own intensive rehearsals, study of selected chamber music and sectional master classes, delegates will attend the Tuesday evening concert by the Asbury University Orchestra, receive a tour of the campus guided by Admissions personnel and intermingle with University students in a variety of social events.

Applications for the clinic are due by Oct. 3, with all applicants receiving notification by Oct. 5. The cost for the event is $50.00, due with the application. Registration fees will be returned to anyone not selected for the event. The fee covers meals, souvenir T-shirt, music and related materials. Housing for musicians will be with University students in dorm rooms. Acceptance to the Fellowship will be based on the recommendations of the delegates’ private teacher and/or orchestra director.
