Renita Koehn

Dr. Koehn received her B.A. in Music from Mount Vernon Nazarene University, her M.M. in Vocal Performance from Morehead State University and her D.M.A. in Vocal Performance from the University of Kentucky, where she studied with Dr. Stephen King.  Having been a college professor in voice and choir for most of her career, she comes to Asbury with 20+ years of teaching experience.  She taught at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, CA, at University of Kentucky in Lexington, at Belhaven College in Jackson, MS, and was Director of Vocal Studies at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN.  She has performed numerous oratorio roles with various choirs and with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra.  While in her doctorate program, she performed the roles of Susannah in Susannah, Adina in L’Elisir d’Amore, and Pamina in The Magic Flute with the UK Opera Theatre.  She and her husband, also an artist, serve as evangelists in the arts with the Francis Asbury Society of Wilmore, KY and are music ministers at Calvary Church of the Nazarene in Lexington.  Their ministries include both performing and teaching in the area of the arts.
