Asbury professor helps with Operation Narnia for Samaritan’s Purse
WILMORE, KY—As Aslan brought Christmas to C.S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia; Samaritan’s Purse has been making Christmas wishes come true for more than 20 years through Operation Christmas Child. This year Operation Christmas Child is partnering with the upcoming film, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which is set for release in December. Through this partnership, Narnia fans will be encouraged to participate in the world’s largest Christmas project by packing shoe box gifts that will make a difference in the lives of needy children.
Asbury University Professor of English Devin Brown has been asked to participate in the effort. Brown, a Narnia expert and author of Inside Narnia (2005), Inside Prince Caspian (2008), and Inside the Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010), has written two short essays which discuss the Christian themes in the upcoming film.
Brown’s articles are part of Operation Christmas Child 2010, which is also being called Operation Narnia. Actress Georgie Henley, who plays Lucy in the films, has also made a video encouraging Narnia fans to get involved in the project. To view this video, Brown’s articles, and other information about Operation Narnia visit the Web site.
Brown said, "I was thrilled to be invited to work with such a great organization on such a terrific project. I hope that Narnia fans all over the world will be inspired to want to help bring some Christmas cheer to those less fortunate."
