Asbury professors speak at Q3 Conference

WILMORE, KY—Three Asbury University professors were featured speakers at the Q3 Conference held at Asbury Theological Seminary. Dr. Devin Brown and Professor Greg Bandy spoke on “The Narnia Films and the Evangelical Love Affair with Lewis.” Their presentation featured a video on C.S. Lewis titled, "The Storyteller," which was produced by students in Asbury University's media communications program. Dr. Mike Peterson spoke on “Lewis on Evolution and Intelligent Design.”
Dr. Brown, professor of English, said, "This was a great interdisciplinary presentation, combining literature, philosophy, and media communications. This is the kind of cross pollination that a liberal arts institution like ours excels in."
The Q3 conference series tackles three big questions at the intersection of faith and science. This, the first in the series, was designed to help pastors and faith leaders explore difficult questions about the cosmos with the help of top scientists, philosophers, theologians, and other recognized experts. The conference was funded by a grant from the John Templeton Foundation’s Science for Ministry Initiative.
"The conference tried to connect a discussion in the theoretical realm--involving theology, philosophy, and science--with the actual practice of ministry,” Dr. Peterson, professor of philosophy, said. “Ministry engages a real world where thoughtful people need to see false oppositions between faith and science overcome so that their Christian experience and influence is as strong as possible."
