Dr. David Cecil received his PhD in social work from the University of South Carolina and his MSW at the University of Kentucky. His dissertation research is on the diffusion of outcome measurement to human service programs. His research interests include evaluation, teaching practice models in the social work curriculum, and faith integration in social work. Dr. Cecil's direct practice experience includes work with both the chronic mentally ill population and, more recently, private practice providing individual and family couseling. He worked as an evaluator with Trident United Way and in the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC). He worked in the East Tennessee State University Master of Social Work program from 2004-2009 where he also served as MSW Program Director for the academic year 2008-2009. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Master of Social Work program at Asbury University. Teaching assignments include applied research, social welfare policy, psychopathology, and advanced practice. He also serves as Board President for the North American Association of Christians in Social Work and practices part time with Harry Cecil & Associates in Lexington, KY.
