Dr. Sandra Gray - "Without Turning Back"
December 31, 2012
“It was by faith that Moses left the land of Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger. He kept right on going because he kept his eye on the one who was invisible.” – Hebrews 11:27
There comes a time in life when every believer will be put to the ultimate test of faith: We will be faced with a decision to follow Christ when there seems to be more questions than there are answers. The test is if we will totally place ourselves in His hands, stand on His promises, and trust Him to lead. It requires a commitment to believe that God is bigger than all the fears before us. He calls us to a level of faith that trusts even the unknown.
As we begin this new year, we are reminded that God is seeking believers who are so sold out to Him that the tests that do come will not shake our trust and confidence in His faithfulness. As Israel faced Pharaoh’s encroaching army, chasing them to the Red Sea, they were required to step into the sea before it parted. God asked one thing of them, “to obey His Word and to keep pressing onward.” This commitment to the mission is born out of a deep trust that the One who called is faithful. A dear friend and prayer warrior in this community has taught me this: We want to say, “God show me, then I’ll trust you.” He responds, “Trust me and I’ll show you.”
I have decided to follow Jesus,
No turning back, no turning back.
