Rev. Stu Smith – “The Stewardship of the Heart”

August 04, 2014

"My child, pay attention to what I say.  Listen carefully to my words.  Don’t lose sight of them.  Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.  Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” – Proverbs 4:20-23 NLV

When we think of a physical heart…we think of a vital organ that is about the size of a fist.  By definition the heart is “the hollow muscular organ that receives blood from the veins and sends it out through the arteries…”  The heart gives you life.  It is the central part of your body and the most vital of all of the vital organs.

In scripture, the heart is the center of the inner life or spiritual life as well.  For, from the heart flow the functions of life.  From the heart comes the passions and drives in life.

So, the stewardship of our heart is of the utmost importance.  Busy days and frantic schedules full of activity can crowd out the most important aspect of life.  That is, to steward our hearts unto God.  Oh, to keep our hearts and minds clean and full of the things that God has for us each and every day.

Remember to be the best steward of your heart; for it will determine the course of your life.

CORNERSTONE:  Stewardship
